Permanganates
Wastewater Odor Control
Hydrogen Sulfide (H 2 S) results from septic conditions during the collection and treatment of wastewater. It has long been recognized a s a major problem for municipal wastewater systems. The colorless gas, known for its rotten egg smell is produced by the biological reduction of sulfate and the decomposition of organic material. It forms at virtually every point in a system from interceptors, force mains, and lift stations to holding tanks, mechanical dewatering equipment and drying beds.
Mercaptan Odor Control
The anaerobic decomposition of organic matter in wastewater results in the formation of Hydrogen sulfide. However, these conditions also lead to the production of the other odor compounds, such as mercaptans and amines.
Mercaptans are organic sulfur components while amines are organic nitrogen compounds that incorporate a characteristics ammonia structure. Both have very low and unpleasant odor recognition concentrations.
A strong oxidizer, permanganate goes beyond the destruction of hydrogen sulfide alone. It attacks the characteristic odor structure of these molecules, eliminating their odor as well.
Industrial
Performance Chemicals offers cost-effective and environmentally attractive alternatives to oxidize and remove un-wanted pollutants and contaminants form waste streams and industrial processes our experience and expertise provides customer specific solutions to many diverse industries. This is accomplished by using permanganate based products or any of our other newly developed technologies.
Industrial Waste Water
For industrial waste water treatment, permanganates are used to control organic and inorganic contaminants and by-products such as phenols and other aromatic hydrocarbon, mercaptans, sulfides, chlorinated hydrocarbons, chelated or free metal ions and numerous other compounds.
